Cherie opens up a drab boxy kitchen by creating a 6-foot cutout between the kitchen and living room and knocking down hanging cabinets that block sightlines to the eating area. An awkwardly positioned laundry gets moved to make room for a new pantry with reclaimed lumber walls. A stark lower level becomes a family room, home office and play area with ample storage and a bold wallpaper feature wall.
