Romance in the city is a classic story of love, friendship and betrayal based on the eternal conflict of emotions and responsibilities. Life in the big city with its unrelenting pressures has had a damaging effect on the relationships of the four main characters. Mitya, Gera, Tanya and Lisa have been friends since childhood, having grown up together in neighbouring houses. But life has separated them for ten long years. Now Gera intends to marry for money and will soon become the owner of a successful commercial company, whereas Mitya, recently released from a long prison sentence, harbours bitter memories of Gera's betrayal. Tanya is a successful designer, and Lisa is a housewife. Mitya and Tanya have long resisted a mutual attraction but finally realise they cannot live without each other. Each character has to face the difficulties created by their different social positions, unravel intrigues, discover clues to old secrets and finally win the battle over hatred, envy and the evil designs of their enemies.
