Gotham - S2 • E10 Ratings & Reviews
io9.com
Rob Bricken
This is Gotham at its Gotham-iest; making the most insane, ridiculous decisions at every single point, both at a character level and at a narrative level.
Den of Geek
Kayti Burt
On a show that is really starting to have a problem with repetition, the Bruce Wayne is somehow one of the most refreshing elements of this show. Ironic, given that we (in theory) know exactly where Bruce's storyline is going.
TV Equals
Mark Trammell
It certainly sets the stage for a big showdown between the Penguin and Gordon and company to go up against Theo and the Order and their people, which should be something. All in all, a solid episode...
Screen Rant
Robert Yaniz, Jr.
"The Son of Gotham" was among the better episodes of the show this season for a number of reasons, including its hyper-focus on the show's two central figures.

That was magical. In "Son of Gotham," Penguin and Nygma continued to play the odd couple and Bruce broke Silver St. Cloud's cold dead heart while also admitting that Selina was obviously way more awesome than the professional mean girl.
IGN Movies
Matt Fowler
"The Son of Gotham" was equal parts silly and satisfying.
The Young Folks
Matthew Goudreau
"The Son of Gotham" was equal parts worthwhile and pointless. The smaller moments helped offset the general failure of presenting a larger picture.
Entertainment Weekly

Two steps forward, 1,000 steps back. That seems to be a running theme on Gotham for anyone on the good side...Such is the life of a hero in Gotham City, and such is the obvious message of this week's episode, "Rise of the Villains: The Son of Gotham."
Paste Magazine
Eric Walters
It was a fine hour for a comic book drama. It was well-paced, decently written with drama and comedy and had the best action Gotham has ever put on screen.
Observer
Vinnie Mancuso
Things on Gotham are heating up.
AV Club
Kyle Fowle
There's so much going on in this episode, but for once it doesn't feel scattered. There's an urgency to everything happening, with Gotham just barreling forward, never stopping too long to consider consequences or indulge pointless side stories.
New York Magazine/Vulture
Simon Abrams
"The Son of Gotham" is a mostly sleepy, albeit high-strung episode of connect-the-dots. It never goes anywhere you don't expect it to, and always ends exactly where the show must in order to resolve canned conflicts.
Baltimore Sun
Karmen Fox
"The Son of Gotham" had everything that makes a great Gotham"episode: Creepy villains wreaking havoc, Bruce and Selina working together and Jim kicking serious ass. Best of all, it sets up next week's fall finale with so much suspense.
TV Fanatic
Lisa Babick
It's starting to get warm and fuzzy between [Bruce and Selina] and Bruce's story is starting to become a lot more interesting. His character is starting to become a lot more interesting. That's a step in the right direction.
Lyles' Movie Files
Jeffrey Lyles
Heading to the winter finale, Gotham has gotten into a nice groove with the villains revealed and Bruce taking an important step to manhood.
