It is a few days before Christmas, and Vindelev is covered in a thin layer of snow. Jørgen is out on his field in Vindelev with his old school mate Ole and his newly purchased metal detector. When they unexpectedly find gold, it turns out to be the largest Danish gold treasure in history, which has been buried on Jørgen's field since the Iron Age. But why is the treasure buried exactly on Jørgen's field? The discovery of gold sets in motion a series of events, speculations, and emotions. And the gold fever strikes, because the gold may help to inscribe the people around the treasure in history and imply a certain form of immortality.
