    1870-19201870-1920 - Before the society pick up on need to help poor people out of their misery, there was the Salvation Army. Through simple housing, communal cooking and reverence before God, they manage to help many poor souls in the big city. Part of this was copied by the authorities within the welfare of the poor.

    1920-19501920-1950 - The national and regional authorities are trying to deal with poverty, lack of housing and jobs, but the religious communities still play a decisive role.
  • 1950-1974

    1950-19741950-1974 - The establishment of shelters for the poor and homeless is organized by various organizations. The drug creeps into everyday life.
  • 1974-2010

    1974-20101974-2010 - The society is increasingly better equipped to help the poor and homeless, but private initiatives are still needed, such as the social pedagogical Kofoed's school, to reach out to more people in need of help.
