Hometown Renovation is an inspirational 6 Hour Mini-Series docu-drama that follows A-list celebrity makeup artist Billy B. (think Lady Gaga, Dixie Chicks, Sharon Stone and more) as he juggles his L.A./N.Y. career and his true passion - saving his hometown of Aberdeen, Miss. (population 6,415), one building at a time. His mission borders on obsession. Yet at the heart of his extraordinary journey is an undeniably universal theme: that no matter where life may take you, there is no place like home.

Billy incorporates an Americana theme with design elements that include red, white and blue paint, a corrugated tin porch shelter, custom metal window shutters and original landscaping.

    Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself?One of the properties Billy owns has a leaky sink problem. After meeting with the tenants, Janice and her son Shakeem, and assessing the interior of the house, Billy thinks they deserve better living conditions. Despite the fact that the property is already bringing income, Billy decides to renovate the entire kitchen and living room. Billy's design plan for the kitchen includes bead board paneling on the walls, fresh paint job, new cabinets, island and appliances. In the living room, Billy focuses on modernizing the space with new furniture and accessories. During the renovation, Billy discovers the house has an infestation of cockroaches and his tenants need to be moved to a hotel. His contractors Leroy, John Dudley and interior designer Lynn, are invaluable in the process of getting the renovation done in a timely fashion. Upon the reveal, Janice and Shakeem are ecstatic to see the amazing transformation of the kitchen and living room. Billy is touched and realizes that renovating this house is worth every penny he spent.

    Curb AppealIt's been a long time coming and Billy feels obligated to tackle one of his biggest projects - the exterior of the house on High Street. It has been an eye sore in this prestigious neighborhood for quite a while and renovating it will finally improve its curb appeal. Billy's manager, Brian, is worried that it will only consume more money, but Billy plans to put the house on the market, so that he can not only improve the neighborhood, but also get a return on his investment.

    Value of DesignAfter renovating the exterior of the High Street house, Billy moves onto fixing up the interior of the same house. The project involves completely redoing the kitchen, master bedroom, den and the bathroom. In the entire house, the walls will be covered with bead board paneling, the original trim will be added and then everything will be painted. All the other rooms will undergo major renovation that will keep the house appropriate for the neighborhood and also modernize it by adding new appliances in the kitchen and a huge travertine shower in the bathroom. Billy has only one week to do it, because his realtor, Marsha Ballard has already scheduled an open house.Billy's crew gets to work enthusiastically and Billy supervises design ideas that are easy on the budget and will make the house stand out, such as whitewash walls in the bedroom and light boxes in the den. Billy also chooses granite counter tops, lighting fixtures and a claw-foot tub from local manufacturers that will bring up the value of the house. While Marsha Ballard worries he won't be able to finish on time for the open house, Billy pushes forward and gets to decorating and staging the house with a local interior design company. In the midst of renovation, Billy manages to book Wynonna Judd for a fund raiser in Aberdeen to save the old 5&Dime building.

    Rebuilding HistoryAfter a major hometown renovation, as a part of Save Aberdeen Landmarks, Billy organizes the community to throw a fund raiser to save the Five and Dime; an old historic building on Main Street in downtown Aberdeen. He used his personal connections to celebrities and was able to get Wynonna Judd to attend the fund raiser, which elevated the event to a fancy Meet and Greet.
  • It Takes a Village

    It Takes a VillageBilly offers to support his friend, and President of Save Aberdeen Landmarks, Dwight Stevens and his plan to move a historic church across town. The 106 year-old church, complete with bell tower, sits dilapidated on an old country lot, having been abandoned by its congregation long ago. Now Dwight has a plan to move the church to a lot next to his house and to restore the structure so it can return to its former glory and once again host community events.
