When a fisherman discovers a conspicuous oil stain on the Loisach River, Hubert and Staller are tasked with investigating the matter. However, they don't find a broken sewer line, but a body - sunk in the Loisach on weights. The man had clearly died from a knife wound, as his body was covered in puncture wounds. The investigation reveals that the dead man is Tom Rösler, the production manager of the Kutschner textile factory. When the police finally deliver the sad news of his employee's death to the company manager, he reacts in a strikingly matter-of-fact manner. Kutschner cannot provide any information about Rösler's private life, but as an employee, he was reliable and conscientious. During a search of Rösler's apartment, the police discover video footage of a mysterious woman. However, she is not clearly recognizable; only her striking tattoo offers a clue. The neighbor also claims to have seen this woman, but cannot remember her name. At least Staller manages to create a phantom drawing based on his statement. The motive: A dirty business? Colleague Sonja Wirth draws the two investigators' attention to the fact that Kutschner's textile factory was involved in an environmental scandal a year ago and must now comply with strict regulations. Pathologist Dr. Anja Licht also presents her findings: The body was found to have a leech, which is primarily found in polluted waters. The body must therefore have been dumped in a location in the Loisach where these parasites are found. Monika Bösmeier from the Weilheim Water Management Authority, however, cannot explain the presence of leeches anywhere in the Loisach. Her colleague Fritz Brunner had recently presented a report attesting to the excellent water quality of the entire Loisach River, thus exonerating the textile factory. When the investigators confront Fritz Brunner about the leeches, he becomes entangled in excuses. And he only knew the murder victim superficially, as his contact at the textile factory was Kutschner. Hubert and Staller then decided to take a water sample near the factory themselves. Monika Bösmeier even agreed to analyze the sample - with a surprising result: The water quality left much to be desired. Did Brunner falsify his report, and why would he do that?
