A day full of surprises for Hubert and Staller. The two police officers are called into town to arrest a drunken and rowdy boy. On the scene, they are astonished to discover that the troublemaker isn't a child at all, but the dwarf millionaire Manuel von Kunkel. As they escort the drunkard back to his villa on Lake Starnberg, the next surprise follows: Kunkel's attractive lodger, Megan, is taking a bubble bath in the bathtub - but she's dead. A tragic accident? That's what it looks like at first, because the hairdryer is drifting through the bathwater. While still on the scene, pathologist Dr. Anja Licht discovers traces of ether in the dead woman's nasal cavity, and it quickly becomes clear: it was murder. While draining the bathwater, Anja Licht and the two investigators make another astonishing discovery: Megan is only a woman up to her waist - the young lady was a ladyboy. For Staller, the case is clear: Millionaire Kunkel killed the beautiful Megan because of unrequited love and faked an accident. He then got wildly drunk in town. But Kunkel stubbornly maintains his innocence: His relationship with Megan was purely platonic, and he knew nothing about her little secret. Finally, the determination of the time of death makes Kunkel's alibi watertight. Megan was murdered while Hubert and Staller were with him in town. Suddenly, a friend of Megan's appears, promising the press exclusive, intimate details about the dead woman's love life. Megan had apparently financed her luxurious lifestyle with wealthy patrons around the lake. Police Commissioner Girwidz fears a scandal in Starnberg's high society. He wants to prevent the insider from providing the press with explosive information at all costs. With Sonja's help, Hubert and Staller lure the woman into a trap and thus acquire an explosive list of names.
