Hubert and Staller are called to a break-in at an apartment building: Egon Dressel's basement unit has been robbed. While Staller tries to clarify with the agitated elderly man what exactly was stolen, Hubert finds a dead young woman in a side corridor of the basement, apparently recently murdered. Janine Lorenz was one of the last residents of the apartment building, along with the retiree and the alternative couple Nadja Erdmann and Tim Schiller. When Hubert and Staller learn of the planned luxury renovation of the building, the owners Helmut and Ursula Neubert come into focus. Were the two really willing to go to any lengths to expedite the eviction? When the Neuberts can prove that the murder victim had already accepted a moving-out bonus, it becomes clear that this lead is leading nowhere. During the autopsy, Dr. Anja Licht determines that Janine Lorenz had consensual sex immediately before her death. However, her ex-boyfriend Lukas Müller claims he hasn't seen Janine Lorenz for weeks. Unfortunately, the young man isn't much more cooperative than the couple from the apartment building, who are apparently at odds with the police for political reasons. To find out who was intimate with the victim on the day of the crime, Staller combines business with pleasure. All the suspects soon find themselves at a social evening, which Staller discreetly uses to collect DNA samples. Sonja Wirth, meanwhile, is also killing two birds with one stone: Her investigation into graffiti on public buildings also leads her to the "respectable" house, and thus her colleague's undercover investigation yields a valuable insight into the murder case for Hubert and Staller.
