Police Commissioner Girwidz hopes to please the staff by inviting them to a Neapolitan song recital. The joy doesn't last long, however, because in the middle of an atmospheric aria, a shot is fired, and Girwidz falls to the ground. While he considers himself doomed, his injury turns out to be relatively minor. But was the failed attack actually aimed at the police commissioner? The new cultural officer, Volker Lukowski, and his assistant, Tanja Holdmeier, are also potential suspects. Hubert and Staller are counting on singer Manolito to be the key figure in convicting the perpetrator. After all, he was the only one with a clear view of the shooter from the stage. After receiving the OK from his manager, Markus Köhler, the artist is housed at the station as a precautionary measure to assist the police investigation. Meanwhile, Hubert and Staller uncover irregularities in Wolfratshausen's cultural scene: former cultural officer, Frank Stübinger, apparently had to resign from his position due to a bribery scandal. According to his estranged wife, Ramona, the suspect has been in Canada for weeks. Despite intensive efforts, Staller is unable to refute the alibi. Based on the analysis of forensic expert Dr. Anja Licht, Riedl begins searching for the murder weapon. In doing so, he unknowingly gets closer to the perpetrator than he would like. Hubert and Staller are frustrated to realize that singer Manolito's greatest talent is certainly not facial recognition. Staller therefore develops a daring plan that involves luring the assassin directly into the arms of the police with the help of local journalist Benkert. But luckily, there's Sonja Wirth, who puts two and two together at the crucial moment.
