Instead of dealing with the lingering pain and loss, Spencer turned to drugs: heroin and meth. Krysten is every parent's worst nightmare. Her parents provided the best upbringing possible, but addiction happened anyway. Krysten's mother, Joanne, is desperate for her daughter and Spencer to return to the sober couple she remembers from two years ago and so enlists the help of Kristina. In order for these families to save their children, Kristina urges them to put an end to their enabling behavior. For Spencer's grandmother, that means putting an end to providing home cooked meals and a safe haven. For Krysten's parents, it's taking back the gift that keeps them from hitting rock bottom... the car they live in. With nowhere to sleep and facing the dangers of life on the streets, Kristina must help Spencer and Krysten confront the wreckage of their addiction if they are to make it out alive. - Krysten & Spencer
E5Krysten & SpencerDan was abandoned by his father as a young boy and essentially raised himself. Louis grew up with a single mother after his father died. Louis and his mother depended on one another for everything, including emotional support as he became the main focus of her life. Louis and Dan met online 10 years ago. Friends at first, they decided to take their relationship to the next level, married shortly after and have been inseparable ever since. But their traumatic pasts continued to haunt them leading to a mutual obsession with alcohol, pills, hard drugs and chaos. Louis's mother, Ann, reaches out to Kristina, not knowing how to help her son and his husband break free of their addictions. For Kristina to help Louis and Dan, though, she must first help their parents to confront their own roles in the couple's downward spiral. Kristina's biggest challenge will be convincing the codependent couple that they need to separate for treatment before they can come back together in a healthier relationship and a stronger marriage.
