Mercury, lies and truths

Numerous studies have shown and demonstrate that fish from Amazonian rivers and rivers are contaminated with mercury. These fish in turn contaminate the Amerindians, large consumers of fish. The media have accused a "gold lobby" of polluting rivers. On the strength of this, the Guyanese authorities have banned the use of mercury since January 1, 2006. The measure is commendable but the problem remains unresolved and the danger lurks ... all over the world.
