When a shopkeeper is found hanging from a lamppost the same even three strangers ride into Velardi, Sheriff Ringo suspects that the two are not coincidence. He learns that the murdered man, his son and his partner were participants in Wyoming Johnson County War, as were the saddle tramps - all of whom have vengeance on their minds. Without hard evidence to back his suspicions, Ringo is powerless to prevent the deadly game of cat-and-mouse that is being played on the town's streets during the hours just before dawn.
