The music video is an exploding new genre in the 1980s, and in a response to MTV, Kim Schumacher appears on Danish TV screens in the groundbreaking music video program '1999'. Danmarks Radio has difficulty in grasping the concept of the music video - and difficulty in grasping Schumacher's character. He must defend what he stands for in front of DR's cultural elite, and he will need his special speaking gifts. That ability already helps him as a boy at a boarding school, where hierarchy is important, and where he comes into close contact with an adult teacher.
