An animated series about the early life of the legendary ninja Sarutobi Sasuke, a Japanese folklore character who supposedly served the warlord Sanada Yukimura during the Siege of Osaka (1614-1615). Sasuke appears in various tales as one of the foes resisting the accumulation of power in the hands of the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.
