Dr. Welby's neighbor, Ann (Diana Muldaur), is ready for a happy new life with Roger (Pernell Roberts) after losing her husband. Unfortunately, cancer doesn't discriminate, and she faces a mastectomy before the wedding. She tries to hide her diagnosis but her son (Clint Howard) overhears. Convinced her fiancé will find her ugly, she refuses to see her family while Welby tries to lift her spirits.
