Jurgen Klopp's Reds were looking to record their third consecutive victory in all competitions against their bitter rivals, and the omens looked good with the Toffees' last triumph coming way back in October 2010. Villa had a similarly poor recent record against Chelsea, having lost their previous five meetings, while the Blades hadn't beaten the Magpies since November 2006.
