Ozu (Kanata Hongo) is a 32 year old single man. He is rationalistic and modernistic in his beliefs. He works and lives in Tokyo, but he is lethargic about everything in his daily life. One day, his older sister and her husband suddenly die in an accident. 12 year old Mei (Kana Osawa) is Ozu's niece and she was left behind after her parents' deaths. Ozu decides to take charge of Mei temporarily and live with her during her summer vacation. For that, Ozu moves to Naraha in Fukushima Prefecture and does his job via remote work. Living with his niece, Ozu and Mei's bond gets deeper. Ozu also meets the local residents and he can feel their warm hearts. Ozu begins to change by being around his niece and the local people.
