In the near future, a cosmic catastrophe hits without warning. Unforeseen by any scientist, the Sun transits rapidly into a red giant. Having no choice, Mankind desperately tries to escape the solar system. The survivors become space nomads, seeking a viable replacement for Earth. The series follow the struggle of the survivors of mankind in their efforts to colonize a habitable exoplanet, where they need to install the so called "human backup".
