Owney Madden grew up on the mean streets of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he earned the title very quickly as Owney the Killer - Duke of the West Side. When it came to kill or be killed Owney had no problem shooting first. Madden rose to power in the Irish mob during the prohibition years and he took full advantage of it.
