Whilst Michael tries to get into shape to impress a girl called Julia Nick tries his father's patience to the ultimate when he breaks and sells his record collection. To Susan's dismay Ben orders Nick out of the house, telling him it is high time he got a place of his own - which he does. But it is only around the corner and he still seeks financial help, in addition to getting work at Ben's local pub.
