Life as a Dance & More

S2 • E5    Apr 10, 2011    28m
"Life as A Dance" - A New York-based dance company comes to Nebraska to challenge our accepted norms of body image, beauty, and disability. "Bright Eyes" - While working on NET's new documentary "Standing Bears Footsteps," Associate Producer Princella Parker discovered the story of Susette La Flesche, also known as Bright Eyes. The daughter of Omaha Indian Chief Iron Eye, La Flesche was a highly educated woman who championed the rights of native people at the time when northern tribes were forcibly removed to reservations. Susette's story resonated with Parker, who is also Omaha. "In Country Again" - The Hagel brothers fought together during the bloodiest years of the Vietnam War. In 1999, U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel and his brother, Tom, made a return trip and our cameras went along to capture their memories. (Clip from the NET's documentary "Echoes of War" produced in 1999.) "Wicked Paint" - A University of Nebraska college student explores the graffiti counter culture.
