Foma, Semyonov and Yulia are fleeing persecution in a country house. Foma offers Yulia to leave the country after he solves all the problems. Semyonov meets with Arsenyev and tells him that the common fund, "converted" into diamonds, is not at Foma, but at Baykal. Arsenyev is surprised that Semyonov does not require anything in return for such valuable information.
