At a meeting with Semyonov, former FSB general Melnikov invites Pavel to take Semenchuk's place and become the new Architect. Semyonov refuses, but Melnikov threatens with compromising evidence and hands over a photograph of Maksimov. The deadline for completing the task is three days. Meanwhile, the court acquits and releases a criminal named Koreyets. Shubin, who dealt with the case of Koreyets, is outraged by the verdict and again disappointed in the law enforcement system.
