
1980s, USSR. Seven-year-old Olya, known as Olivka, grew up in the village. Her faithful friend, Rex the Shepherd, is always by her side. Olivka is confident that she understands animals and easily finds common ground with them, be it a dog or a goat. Olivka is also a very knowledgeable girl with a precocious worldview, having accidentally read her grandmother's entire library. Her best friend, Igor, is a moderately smart but very thrifty boy who is completely in love with Olivka and ready to support her every adventure. But her familiar world collapses when Olivka's parents take her to the city. There, her neighbor Matilda looks after her, trying to instill in Olivka a love of art and discipline, but is gradually drawn into Olivka's amazing world. In the city, Olivka will have to find new friends and adapt to a completely different way of life.
