Gina Olaya, daughter of the late Wilma Mankiller, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, is a true living legacy. Unfortunately she suffers from the same health issues that plagued her mother and many others in her family. By carrying her mother's memory with her, she navigates a difficult life with grace and continues to serve our tribe. Multi-talented Steve Mashburn has no shortage of hobbies. He is both an award-winning Cherokee silversmith and an avid beekeeper, and the last thing he's doing is keeping his skills to himself. Join Steve as he spreads his knowledge to help his metal smith students find their spark. Lori Enlow is an ultra endurance runner, racking up several miles every day training for competition. She perseveres through physical and emotional struggles to achieve success as both a runner and a Cherokee Nation nurse practitioner. Witness Lori's motivation for yourself as she stays the course and crosses the finish line. In our Cherokee Almanac, we explore Cherokee involvement in the Battle of Pea Ridge. Despite attempts to remain neutral during the U.S. Civil War, the Cherokee Nation found itself drawn into conflict and divided. Nowhere was that more evident than during this pivotal battle.
