Out for the evening with Beth, Moss is asked by Hopkins, new landlord of the local pub, if he can look into the pilfering he has discovered. Hopkins may wish to avoid upsetting his staff, and creating trouble that would reflect on him with the brewery, but Parkin has no real choice but to investigate the theft officially. It is however another social call that reveals more than just the culprit to Parkin.
