PC Moss Parkin is on duty at the local market, supervising the auction of livestock, and finds local farmer Nathan Farrar selling a pig in breach of regulations. His and Beth's friendship with Farrar, and knowledge of his financial situation, make it a difficult decision for Parkin. Examining the pig more closely, Parkin suspects swine fever and has to call a halt to the sale anyway which leads to more acrimony.
