Tom Hall comes to PC Moss Parkin to report that his wife, Helen, has gone missing. Parkin realises he had seen her himself the previous evening in a nearby pub with another man, Jack Bromley, and soon discovers he was not alone in having seen the two together. Having been a regular sight in each other's company, it becomes apparent Bromley wanted to break off their relationship.
