Captain Fuchs has to solve a series of unusual burglaries. The perpetrator uses an old technique called "ceiling chiseling." In the archives, Captain Fuchs finds a lead dating back twenty years, but the perpetrator from back then, known to the police as "Kulle," is no longer active. He lives a secluded life as a disabled pensioner in a small house on the outskirts of town. Unwittingly, however, his stories have given his friend an idea, providing him with the crucial tip. Freddy is 19, and he feels misunderstood by both his parents and his colleagues. He believes he can only find understanding with his girlfriend and Kulle. Freddy wants to prove to himself that he's not a failure by committing the burglaries. And besides, he needs the money to live independently from his parents. Freddy wants to buy his friend Kulle's house. His petty burglaries aren't bringing in the necessary profits, so Freddy plans his big heist. But the break-in at a department store fails. While fleeing from the police, Freddy is involved in an accident. He is left paralyzed from the waist down.
