Otto has organized a party for his brother Paul and his wife Anne to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. After the last guests have left the festive gathering, the dutiful Paul, as always, begins his night shift as a guard at the Hygiene Institute. But that evening, a crime is committed. The next day, Paul is found seriously injured in his guardhouse. Shortly thereafter, Paul dies from his injuries. Otto, who has already tragically lost his wife, is unable to cope with his brother's death. Since he feels the police investigation is taking too long, he begins searching for his brother's killer on his own.
