The body of a young man is found in a junkyard near Halle. When Detectives Schmücke and Schneider visit the deceased's parents, they are shocked. They encounter a family grieving the loss of their seven-year-old grandson, who died just days earlier. The family can offer little information about their son, Matthias, as they claim to have had no contact with him for years, given his history of delinquency. This leads Schmücke and Schneider to initially suspect the murderer is someone from Matthias's criminal circle.
