乾隆夜夜等待盈盈相伴，慢慢发现，盈盈和雨荷不相似之处。雨荷柔情似水，盈盈温柔之余，个性分明，甚至还有着与含香相近的性格。通常，皇上传召，没有人敢不来，唯有夏盈盈，随心情而决定是否上船与皇上相聚。她认为人与人之间讲缘份，能与皇上巧遇是缘，心情不到时，勉强陪皇上，也没意思。乾隆越了解盈盈，越觉得她的可贵之处，不因为他是皇上就贬低自己，也不因为当歌妓就看轻自己。
