Win Some, Lose Some

The Berry Springs Waste Warriors hope the adhesive on their solar powered drip irrigation system has held, so they put the prototype to the test - only time will tell if it will work. Meanwhile, they get underway with Waste Free Wednesdays, introducing "nude food" to stop their classmates bringing soft plastics to school. There's a surprise when Red Dust rappers Wayne and Simmie stop by to help them devise their rap song. With only three weeks until they perform there is still a lot to do. At Fremantle College, the good news is that the vegetable scraps have grown. The bad news is that the seeds in the egg cartons have not. Thankfully Mr Glorie has a great idea - aquaponics - so they raid the science storeroom and get on with the build. In Tasmania, team Taroona renew an old bathtub and build a home-sweet-home for some new friends - worms that is. Freida never passes up an opportunity to implement the 5 Rs, so she tops off the worm farm with recycled door. But these worms are hungry, so Freida and her team head to food scrap heaven - the canteen - in search of scraps. Surf's up when a pro-surfer issues the weekly challenge to team Taroona to "get frothing" and save water around the school. They discover that installing water-saving aerators to taps is "easy peasy" and so too is estimating their impact. The results are amazing. Saving water is simple so Sinon delivers some 'water-wise' suggestions.
