Ramat Aviv Gimmel
Season 1
Israel’s first soap opera, which premiered in 1995 and became a ratings hit. The series was named after a residential neighborhood in northern Tel Aviv that, in the late 1990s, became a symbol of hedonism and a high standard of living. The key characters in the series were Sharon Linovitz (Yael Bar Zohar), a beautiful and spoiled young woman; Sharon’s mother, Idit Linovitz (Gilat Ankuri), Israel’s first “bitch”; and Idit’s husband and Sharon’s stepfather, Mike Linovitz (Shlomo Sadan). The Linowitz family owns the fashion company “Opel,” which served as the main backdrop for the series’ plot.
