The Saint, on holiday in the Italian ski resort of Cortina, is attempting to romance his ski instructress, Maria, when out of the blue her brother Andre is shot as he comes down the slopes toward them. Simon's suspicions centre on an American, Diana Lang, who runs a ski school - though the Saint is about to discover that it is really a front for more lethal activities.
