Schimanski is financially secure. A pension payment. He shares this with Marie Claire on a romantic trip to Belgium. But Gaubner, convicted of murder, has escaped from a nearby prison and, of all people, runs into Schimanski. And the police pursuing him are not far away. Gaubner threatens to shoot himself if he is not allowed to see his son David. Schimanski, who senses Gaubner's secret, enables him to escape and tries to bring him together with his son David. On an adventurous road trip, Schimanski learns more and more about the tragic events surrounding the murder of David's mother, for which his father went to prison.
