Consciousness allows us to be agents in our own world, to interact with others and to attribute consciousness to others as well. Philosophy, psychology, neurobiology, for centuries have tried to understand, delimit, classify, and describe what consciousness is. What are the necessary and sufficient criteria for being considered conscious, and the ethics involved in this. Thus seeking to determine which beings are conscious and what are the consequences of this. But is this really necessary, or would it be a waste of time?
