Following the bombings, Emilio uses his police connections to cover his tracks but is eventually arrested along with everyone else. Baby, still at large, attributes his liberty to his friendship with Emilio, who would never betray him. But he is wrong. One morning, a police van appears by his apartment block, and Baby becomes the first person to be convicted for the Madrid train bombings. His testimony will be key in the 2007 mega-trial.
