Tom is forced to take over coaching when Rick's problem with alcohol becomes obvious when he turns up drunk, to the big match. Annie gets tricked into volunteering as a medic, and finds herself strangely attracted to the game with the odd-shaped ball. Stuart leads a mutiny of the players against Tom when Bullandra looks like thrashing the Emus. He becomes a reluctant hero in the process.
