Robson Green explores the region known as "Britain's best-kept secret". This series reveals why the county of his birth still remains for him a magical and mysterious ancient kingdom. He immerses himself in the unique experiences it has to offer, camping wild in the most remote spot in Britain, stargazing into the darkest skies in England and exploring the rich and deep history of a county which has its own flag, along with iconic locations such as Holy Island and Hadrian's Wall.

    SecretsWith Ben Burville we dive in the North Sea looking for dolphins. Then we go to Cragside, where Lord Armstrong lived in the first house to use and still use hydroelectricity. Finally we go to Druridge Bay where the presenter skinny dips.

    Northumberland National ParkWe go to Northumberland National Park, where we are shown Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling. After College Valley, a wild camp in the Cheviot Hills follows. Finally we go to the Otterburn Ranges, and observe a live exercise.
  • Coquet River

    Coquet RiverThe actor canoes along Northumberland's longest river, the Coquet, discovering its wildlife and hidden history. He then visits Warkworth Hermitage, an ancient chapel accessibly by boat, and stops off at Warkworth Castle, before heading to Amble to hear the story of a seal that surprised two surfers last summer by taking a ride with them. Finally, Robson heads across the bay by kayak to Coquet Island, an RSPB nature reserve that is home to Britain's rarest nesting seabird - the roseate tern.

    Hidden TreasuresWe are looking at Northumberland's greatest historical treasures, by diving near the Farne Islands, to discover the wreck of a ship, then finding Roman relics, as well as the Corbridge Hoard. Finally, we visit Lindisfarne.

    Industrial HeritageThe actor meets those who are keeping the region's rich industrial heritage alive. At Amble, he joins a community boat project aiming to revive traditional wooden boat-building skills, and takes part in a boat race at the harbour. He then heads to Allendale to spend a day working with the Dodd family on Britain's last horse-powered farm. Robson also learns about Northumberland's role in the birth of the railways and meets the steam enthusiasts who are bidding to rebuild the disused Alnwick to Alnmouth line.
  • Natural Wonders

    Natural WondersThe actor explores some of the region's greatest natural wonders. At Chillingham, he encounters one of the world's oldest breeds of cattle, which, he discovers, is also one of the most dangerous. Setting up camp in the countryside, Robson meets a couple who call themselves `wild gourmets' as they prepare a meal using ingredients hand-picked from Kielder Forest. He then learns about the county's unique rock formations, joining geologist Ian Kille to abseil down a cliff face at Cullernose Point.

    South EastThe actor heads to the south-east corner of Northumberland, joining a team of building conservationists aiming to rescue one of Britain's great architectural gems - Seaton Delaval Hall. The actor also tries his hand at the rapper sword dance, a tradition that was once popular with miners in the region, and visits Kirkley Hall near Morpeth, where he learns about the countryside battle between the indigenous red and the invasive grey squirrel.

    BordersThe presenter visits several sites. Starting with smelly goats in the Cheviots, the murals at Wallington Hall, a sword and spur at Hesleyside and finishing on the Tweed river, netting and eating salmon.
