In the second half Clarke manages to get her mother out of A.L.I.E.'s control. Together they put the flame into Clarke by connecting her to Ontari, the Nightblood. Now knowing how to stop A.L.I.E., Clarke goes to the city of light to shut down A.L.I.E.; but shutting down A.L.I.E. has serious consequences.
