The American Girl
Season 1
TV-PG
Susan Henderson, a young American with a degree in Italian literature, travels to Arezzo after inheriting a dilapidated castle and a village inhabited by hostile families—who fear losing their homes—from her grandfather, Duke Foschi. Despite lawyer Baruccini’s advice to sell everything, Susan decides to stay and face the situation head-on, while the village mounts a legal challenge led by the young lawyer Nilde. Her only initial support is her housekeeper, Bice, but Susan soon becomes close to Vasco, a local blacksmith. Upon discovering a diary hidden in the castle, a mystery linked to the duke’s past comes to light. Following the clues, Susan and Vasco find the body of a buried child, unearthing a tragic family story involving Bice and her daughter Angelica.
