One of Burnside's enemies, Lester Bromley, has dies from a heart attack much to the relief of Burnside. Roach gets a lead from his snout about a drugs deal to take place in a restaurant where PC Ackland is coincidentally having a working lunch with DCI Wray. Burnside and CID members have a celebratory booze-up where Alastair drinks a little too much.
