John, an old man and a janitor at Vought, steals a vial of Compound V and injects it into his dying wife Sun-Hee rather than watch her die of pancreatic cancer, in the hopes that it will cure her. The V saves her life but gives the cancer superpowers and causes it to emerge from her body, becoming a danger to the world.
