A niece visiting an elderly aunt out in the country begins to suspect the aunt of killing a traveling necktie salesman. Complications arise when the niece gets a phone call that an inmate of a nearby psychiatric hospital has escaped; and the aunt claims a bloody ax blade was used on a chicken; and the hired hand disappears.
