He fails, thanks to a naturalist named Kent, who is really a part of a raider gang who are trying to gain possession of a ranch which belongs to Gene's friend, Jim Watson, and his niece, Susan. Pat discovers that the ranch is the hiding place for gold. Gene brings in the raiders, and Susan is back on friendly terms with him.
