Chang San-lang and the corrupt officials are in the silk business and are very powerful in the area. They order the release of Yao-chin and others.
Chang San-lang knows what Lan Ling did, is very angry and swears to kill Lan Ling for revenge. Meanwhile, Lan Ling has arrived and threatens to kill the corrupt officials so as to force Chang San-lang get rid of Siang-r and close the silk business in three days.
Li Tsing has investigated the life of the people, and tells Chang San-lang about the poverty. He persuades Chang San-lang to revolt but Chang thinks it is not yet the right time. Yao-chin wants Chang to join them in the city, but Chang refuses and everybody is disappointed. However, Siang-r is happy.
Li Tsing and Yao-chin still want Chang San-lang to revolt. Siang-r is very worried. Lan Ling suddenly appears and says they can cooperate to prevent Chang San-lang from revolt if Siang-r will leave Chang……
