The Jim Henson Hour

Season 1

Jim Henson hosts an anthology series. The typical format has the first part being the misadventures of Muppet TV as Kermit the Frog struggles to operate a television super station with the usual level of help from his friends. The second part being varied short productions, including episodes of The Storyteller (1987) as an old man and his sarcastic dog tell obscure fairy tales in the tradition of the great classics.

Part 2 (Lighthouse Island): Zeb Norman visits a strange small town in search of a gift for his fiancée. He finds a pair of silver slippers in a local curio shop run by a witch who drags him to Hog Island to obtain a mysterious pearl once stolen from her rival.

From an early Russian folk tale.

Part 2 (Dog City): Rowlf the Dog hosts a 1930s gangster-type story in which a dog named Ace Yu travels to Dog City to investigate his uncle's murder. While there, he meets a homeless dog named Collien, and gets in trouble with a gangster named Bugsy Them.

Part 2 (Miss Piggy's Hollywood): Miss Piggy hosts a tour of Hollywood, with help from Gonzo. However, Piggy quickly learns that Hollywood is not quite what she thought it would be. Meanwhile, Fozzie's audition at The Comedy Store is heckled by Statler and Waldorf.

He gets more than he bargained for when one of the creatures, the giant dragon-like Ultragorgon, takes Matt under his wing.     Fitness"MuppeTelevision": In an episode focusing on health and fitness, Digit gets a cold, the chickens catch sneezing fits, and Link Hogthrob worries that he has Canadian snout fever. "The Song of the Cloud Forest": In the rainforest, Milton the Golden Toad worries that he may be the last of his species alive, and he'll never find a mate to love.

    Secrets of the MuppetsAfter a dog named Jojo asks Jim Henson, "How do the Muppets work?" Jim explains many of their tricks and special effects, even though Gonzo and Leon and other characters get freaked out when he tries to do so.

    Living with DinosaursDom's about to turn ten and he doesn't like fish, his father, his cousin or his new school. He's also not sure that he likes The Bulge that's about to become his new sibling. But he has a very special friend to listen to his troubles: his stuffed toy dinosaur, Dog, who talks to him and sings Elvis songs when other people aren't around.

    FoodPart 1 (MupppeTelevision). Kermit has trouble keeping the show running because the entire staff is waiting for their lunch to be delivered. Part 2 (The StoryTeller: The Three Ravens): When the queen dies, a witch ensnares the king with a magical spell. She curses the king's three sons by turning them into ravens. The king's daughter escapes and is warned by her brothers that she must not speak for three years, three months, three weeks, and three days in order to break the curse. After marrying a prince and discovering her stepmother has remarried to the prince's father, can the princess break the curse?
