Bob seems to have found his ideal woman in Thelma Chambers, but when she drops him he is despondent and decides to join the Army. Not wishing to be parted from his best friend, Terry decides to join up with him. However, in the event it is Bob who is turned down whilst Terry finds that he has signed on for the duration.
